A simple thank you.
As Mammographers, oftentimes we end our day-to-day interactions with patients by saying "Thank you". Or, as our patients are walking out the door and leaving for the day they (hopefully) express their gratitude to us. Throughout the course of our shift, we probably hear "thank you" a lot. And not just from patients, but from co-workers, and Radiologists as well. But when said in passing, "Thank you" can sometimes lose its value. The empathy and compassion that this phrase is built upon don't always sink in. As simplistic as it is, gratitude is often overlooked, both when we hear this phrase or say it to others. So with National Breast Cancer Awareness month coming up, I wanted to remind you that working in Breast Imaging is no small feat. The work you do saves lives. So when you say "Thank you" to a colleague or to your patients, look them in the eye, and give meaning to the words you say. This video is a great reminder that the work we do matters.
